Somewhere between September and June, rushing became a reflex. I was moving so fast that rushing became my default mode.

So as the pace has calmed over the summer, it keeps catching me in old habits. Speeding through a cup of coffee I should be sitting with. Hurrying through a morning that has nowhere to be. Treating slowness like something I have to earn instead of something I’m allowed to just choose.

So now, I’m looking for intentional ways to do things better and slower. Like taking the time to brew up a great latte. Like taking the walk that takes an hour. Like leaving my phone at home. The morning doesn’t need to be efficient right now and I’m working on decentering hurry.

You know the Sunday Slowdown, but welcome to the Saturday Bloom.

Here on Substack I’m bringing you the Saturday Bloom. I love to ask my girls the rose (highlight) and thorn (challenge) of their days and here, I want to share the things that contribute to my “rose” of the week. Each week I’ll share 5 quick recs in 5 easy categories:

B: bites L: listening O: Outfit O: Ordered M: Mindset.

I would love to hear your BLOOM of the week too!
